THe Mutabazi Family
OUR STORY
Our family's adoption journey has been one of profound discovery, growth, and boundless love. At the heart of our mission lies a passion for foster care and adoption—a driving force that propels us to ensure that every child feels truly 'known.' This isn't merely an endeavor; it's a privilege, an honor that we get to embark on together as a family unit.
Though our path is filled with learning curves and evolving understandings, our hope is to not only inspire those around us but also foster a community of shared experiences. We believe that every story, including yours, holds invaluable lessons. As we share our experiences, triumphs, and challenges, we eagerly invite you to share yours. Together, we can create a tapestry of tales that uplift, educate, and inspire, all while reinforcing the significance of every child's right to be known and loved.

“I have never owned a pet, nor did I ever think I’d have one. Everything changed when I started fostering and adopted my son.
I started to see how kids would interact with pets. How a dog, especially, had a way of providing relief, comfort, and safety. I’ve never experienced any other kind of counseling or therapy as powerful. Our kids are often the victims of trauma. That trauma is something they live with, and we work with it daily.
No amount of words that I could say could ever replace what a dog can do with no words, no pretense, just the unconditional love a dog feels for kids.”

“Through compassion, connection, and authentic interactions, I’m doing my best to live out Now I Am Known’s twelve words of affirmation every day at home and in my community.”
As a child, I ran away from an abusive home and was helped by the kindness of strangers. As an adult, I found myself in a position to be able to help foster children, so I began taking children into my home years ago to give back what was so freely given to me.
It's my mission to give back as much as I can to the vulnerable among us. That's what drives Now I Am Known: to bring a message of hope to the hopeless—the same message I needed so badly to hear as a child.
That is why we will be partnering with foster care agencies to give away a plush puppy with the message "Now I Am Known, Seen, and Heard" to at-risk children across the country.
